Synopsis:
GEORGIA maneuvers through love after rape. After a young couple survives this quiet violence, the play shows how a single thrust unlocks different answers to the same question. GEORGIA forces an analysis of opposing viewpoints through the vulnerability of the main character; the generational consciousness of her best friend; the matured perspective of an immigrant parent and finally, from the gendered posturing of a young man.

Georgia: 18 – 22 year old girl. Young and in love. Somewhat naïve to the realities of the world of relationships. [Already CAST]
Briane: Best friend of Georgia, she is an urban young woman, full of sass and attitude. Free spirit.
Mother: Georgia’s mother, a brown-skinned woman who can look older (late 30s, 40 ish). Immigrant born, African, Caribbean or Hispanic accent a plus.
Ronald: Georgia's significant other. College student. Clean cut, well built, looks like he can do no harm.
Greg: Ronald's best friend, fellow college student. Charming qualities, talks a good game.
Father/Preacher: Georgia's Father. Strong, silent type in the home, but loud and boisterous as the preacher in his church.
Dancer 1: Male, Dancer represents what is going on spiritually with the male lead character, may double as an extra with some speaking lines, and may help with scene changes. Choreography experience is a plus, but not necessary.
Dancer 2: Female, comfortable dancing with a male partner. Dancer represents what is going on spiritually with the female lead character, may double as an extra with some speaking lines, and may help with scene changes. Choreography experience is a plus, but not necessary.


ACTORS
Bring a copy of your headshot and resume and come prepared to perform/read a side for the character you are interested in. Send an email to georgiaplay@gmail.com with the word "ACTOR" in the subject line and we will respond with the sides that will be used for the audition.
DANCERS
Come prepared with a 1-minute dance routine that represents a combination of the joys of BLISS and the darkness of SEXUAL OPPRESSION. Please bring your own music to the audition in the form of a CD or iPod for your dance audition. A CD player and iPod player will be available. If you are interested in being a dance choreographer for the show, the dance routine that you audition with should be an original piece.
