The Hopeless Journey is a 40 minute short film that follows fourteen-year-old Olivia as she is faced with obstacles and barriers passed down from her drug abusive mother. When looking for her next fix with no money to spend, Olivia's mother sells her to the local drug dealer for just a small amount of cocaine. Olivia is then forced to live a life she knows nothing about. This film will aid in knocking down the social taboos on subjects such as drugs, prostitution, sexually transmitted diseases, suicide and sex trafficking. Ultimately this film will give the raw and authentic attitudes on how we all have to learn to sacrifice certain things for the life we live.
Olivia 13-16
This is a very powerful and uncomfortable role. Olivia has to be able to showcase a lot of pain and unhappiness. Olivia has to be able to transform from an innocent girl to a bad girl. Her character is based on a female who is on drugs and undergo prostitution. THIS IS A VERY POWERFUL ROLE.
Faith 18-27
Faith is like a big sister to Olivia, once she becomes a prostitute. Faith character must be able to perform a powerful role, while remaining sentimental and still have the street smarts to survive in the jungle.
Ronnie 35+
Ronnie is a local drug dealer and he also runs the prostitution ring. He is a bad boy that only cares about his money and will let nothing get in his way.
Sharlene 24+
Sharlene is Olivia's mother, She allowed drugs to take over her life and will do anything to get the next hit. Also another powerful role.
Olivia 13-16
