    Act 2 - Scene 6

Classical-style/victorian-style music/song starts playing. Scene opens/curtains rise on Mary and Michael sitting.
Mary; 'How long have you been performing magic?'

Michael; 'You could say I was around for the original Indian rope trick' (laughs to self)

Mary; (smirks) 'That long? What has kept and maintain the quality and mainstay of your show?'

Michael;I would say the fresh young blood that comes through my repetoire'

Mary; 'You referring to your assistants?'

    Michael; Assistants, audience members,....reporters....'

Mary; (looks down at notes) 'What draws you to the art and craft of magic?'

Michael; 'You could say the mysterious....(gets intimate with her/closer)...the allure...the unknown aspect of it'

Mary; (feels the seduction tone from him) 'Does it afford you the possibility of possessing certain powers?'

Michael; 'I already have 'certain' powers, Mary'

    Mary; 'Such as.....?'

Michael; 'I can turn into a wolf, a fog, a giant bat!'

Mary; 'Is this onstage or in your imagination?'

Michael; (laughs to self) 'How quaint and cute your questions are'

Mary; 'I try to be straight-forward'

    Michael; 'And I appreciate that'

Mary; 'Do you use magic as a way of hiding, disguising something you know or are?'

Michael; 'No more than the way Christians use christianity or religion as a way of hiding their own fears, faults and frailities'

Mary 'That's a very bold assumption'

Michael; 'It's not an assumption. It's a fact'

Mary; 'Since we are on the topic of religion, have you ever practiced or infused black magic into your craft?'

Michael; 'I am black magic' (laughs)

    Mary; 'How so?'

Michael; 'I am the antithesis of all things religion. I am what they, all of them fear for I am a propent of darkness itself and there is none against me'

Mary; (dramatic pause) 'You talk proud of this'

Michael; 'I am for which I have become'

    Mary; 'And that is.....'

Michael; (moves in closer to her) 'Beyond light, beyond eternal, beyond life itself'

Mary; 'So, you mean the opposite of those things'

Michael; (pulls back and laughs) 'You are a sharp nail, aren't you?'

Mary; 'I believe in preparing for what I am facing'

Michael; (in her face) 'And what are you facing?'

Mary; (slowly backs away) 'Is it what you call magic or withcraft or......'

Michael; 'Could it be death you are facing?'

Mary; 'I dont' know. You tell me'

Michael; 'I will tell you this.....I sense a deep longing in your soul. There is a permanent saddness running through your spirit. You can't shake it. You tried but you can't.'

Mary; (sarcastically) 'Wow, maybe you should consider being a medium rather than a magician. I suppose you can rid me of this saddness'

Michael; (closer) 'I can offer you everlasting....life...no pain....no feeling....'

    Mary; 'And no conscious'
