Description/Notes
Fantasies of the Broke and Ambitious is about a group of boys, from the projects, who are figuring out their purpose in life while waiting to graduate high school. Kevin, the main character of the story, is very smart but is finding trouble deciding whether college is right for him. Jaheem, the artist of the story, knows his passion in music but is finding trouble making a life from it. Anthony, the comedian of the group, finds his happiness in parties but doesn’t know how that could ever provide a life for him, his girlfriend and future child. Damian, the second main character, is also very smart but sees no benefit from education if it can’t protect him and his grandmother from violence of the projects. As the story progresses, so do each of these dreams…for better and for worse.
This film will be the first independent feature film Joseph Key will be making as a Filmmaker. The budget is small but we are willing accommodate our actors any way we can.

Hispanic kid from the projects of Harlem. He’s not concerned with tomorrow or his future. He knows he has a baby on the way with his complicated girlfriend but he’s not preparing for that. The only thing that brings him happiness is partying with his friends and living in the moment. Enjoying the pleasures of life as they come. With the help of his friend, Kevin, he realizes his potential to become a person who throws parties and capitalize off of it. Finally, selling a fantasy(being parties) that he has lived in for so many years. Damian Jones - Male / Lead / African American, Ethnically Ambiguous, Hispanic / 18-28
A Kid from the projects of Harlem. He is very smart academically but believes that education cannot and will not solve any of his present problems. Damian is the post child of what it is to be a “product of your environment”. He grew up with his grandmother and no other parental figures. Therefore, he looked to others for guidance and found his way into becoming a gang member. His life consists of looking after his grandmother, hanging out with his friends ( Kevin, Jaheem and Anthony) and assisting with gang related things when needed. With this help of his friend, Kevin, he decides to change his life and use his academic intelligence to try his chances into getting in a college. A kid from the projects of Harlem. Unlike, the rest of his friends, he clearly know his passion in life which is music. He dreams of being the best rapper to come out of Harlem since Asap Rocky. As he pursues his dreams to make it as a musical artists and becomes more vulnerable with his music, he realizes he wants to finally embrace his biggest fight with himself and that is being gay. He later confesses this to his friends and expresses how he wants his first album to be a statement for who he is and anyone like him.
