Description/Notes
This is a micro-budget debut feature from an emerging student director whose previous short film and script have won multiple student awards. Not Us is a character-driven, socially resonant drama centered on healing, community, and survival. The story follows a group of individuals navigating trauma, solidarity, and renewal in the face of injustice. The film combines grounded realism with emotional depth, offering actors strong, meaningful material to work with.

All cast members will receive free room and board, transportation to and from set, meals, on-set support, and an IMDb credit. As this is a donation-funded project, compensation will be based on final budget allocations, and we intend to provide a stipend for all principal roles. Although this is a micro-budget production, we are fully committed to professionalism, respectful scheduling, and clear communication throughout the entire process.

We welcome passionate, collaborative actors who are excited to help bring a powerful story to life.

  • Susan - Female / Supporting / Caucasian / 35-45

Susan is Wilbert's mother-soft-spoken, devout, and worn down by years of control. She lives in survival mode, folding towels twice just to keep her hands busy while Hank's words chip at her spirit. Her faith has been a lifeline and a trap: the vows to endure, the guilt for wanting out, the hope that quiet might keep the peace. Across the story, tiny choices become acts of courage as she begins to protect herself and her son. Susan's strength is subtle but seismic-when she finally chooses safety and dignity, it changes the temperature of the whole house.
